Erika Kaneko is the founder and principal attorney at Kaneko Law, where she serves as fractional general counsel to smart leaders who want to grow their companies and look sharp in front of their investors and customers.
With nearly two decades of business experience, first as a strategy consultant and then over 10 years as a corporate attorney, Erika has learned that most problems can be fixed, and her job is helping founders and entrepreneurs figure out how they are going to do it together.
Before launching Kaneko Law, Erika guided numerous companies through IPOs and other transactions at Cooley, where she helped high-growth clients navigate their most significant business opportunities and legal challenges. Prior to Cooley, she represented investors and Fortune 500 companies at Weil Gotshal, focusing on sophisticated financing transactions, acquisitions, restructurings, and sensitive disclosure matters.
Her unique background enables her to provide counsel that addresses not only technical legal requirements, but also underlying business objectives and stakeholder concerns. Whether clients are dealing with cofounder disputes, navigating a financing or M&A transaction, or trying to fix a ChatGPT contract that is leaving them more exposed than they would like, Erika helps them navigate the full spectrum of business legal needs and manage risk on their way to yes.
Erika holds a J.D. with honors from the University of Michigan Law School and an A.B. with honors from Princeton University. When she is not serving as legal counsel, you will find her at a music festival or around the office with Leeloo, her trusted canine assistant.
